HILLSBOROUGH, N.C., March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In light of the recent celebrity "sexting" scandals, AdamEve.com (http://adameve.com/news), America's most trusted source for adult products, asked over 1,000 adults about their personal sexting habits, and more than half said they had "never" done it.

While 17% of American adults readily admit they participate in the habit of sending sexually explicit messages or nude photos over their phones, a whopping 57% say they "never" engage in sexting. Another 25% said they had never even heard of sexting, and 2% preferred not to answer.
"I'm not surprised by these findings," says Dr. Kat Van Kirk, Adam & Eve's resident sex expert. "Sexting is a relatively new trend, and something a lot of older adults don't feel comfortable participating in. We've seen what has happened with the personal photos from celebrities' phones… While it can be exciting to send naughty pictures to your lover, I recommend using caution so these photos never end up in the wrong hands."
Adam & Eve director of marketing Chad Davis adds, "Adam & Eve encourages a positive attitude regarding all things sexual. That said, adults who choose to sext should be aware of the risks involved."
The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices. "Sex Chat with Dr. Kat" and "Daily Sex Tips from Hawaii" can be found on podcasts through iTunes or www.drkat.com.
