ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Photonix® (NYSE MKT: API), the leading supplier of terahertz systems, is pleased to announce that a European supplier of process control equipment has placed a volume purchase order for the T-Gauge® terahertz product platform. The systems will provide critical thickness measurement in a scanning configuration for process control.
The T-Gauge® terahertz system allows non-contact measurement of multilayer thicknesses in a package designed for industrial deployment. This multi-system order by a major player in the process control market confirms the increasing acceptance of terahertz as a superior gauging alternative and solidifies the position of Advanced Photonix® as the leader in industrial terahertz deployment.
The volume order, three units to be delivered over the next few months, is an immediate follow-on to the system that was purchased by the same company for application development in the first quarter of this calendar year. The speed of evaluation and ease of integration of the T-Gauge® product into the customer's software and measurement platform is testament to the logical way in which the T-Gauge® is constructed. The additional units will be used as reference systems at key customer accounts.
"We are pleased to see the pay-off for the hard work that our team has put into this product, and see this sale as the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship with this customer. We are looking forward to the coming fiscal year and will focus on our high growth opportunities across our product platforms," said Richard Kurtz, CEO of API.
