Advanced Systems Concepts Joins Microsoft System Center Alliance to Support Customers’ Windows Server Networks
ActiveBatch(R) Management Pack Allows IT Operations Staff to Centrally Manage Jobs, Job Plans, Agents and Much More; Alerts Sent to Systems Center Operations Manager Console
MORRISTOWN, N.J., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), maker of ActiveBatch® Workload Automation and Job Scheduling Software and other solutions that enhance Windows™, Linux, UNIX, z/OS and OpenVMS systems among others, today announced that it has been accepted into the Microsoft System Center Alliance, a network of technology partners supporting Microsoft's System Center network management suite.
ASCI has recently released ActiveBatch® Management Pack for Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 R2, which ensures easy and comprehensive monitoring of ActiveBatch jobs, job plans, Windows/UNIX/Linux execution agents and more via the System Center Operations Manager console. The ActiveBatch Management Pack is licensed separately from the ActiveBatch Job Scheduler and Workload Automation solution, and can be downloaded from Microsoft® Pinpoint.
Microsoft System Center is a set of advanced server products that help IT administrators manage Windows Server and client desktop networks. System Center Operations Manager is the central services and application monitoring tool for the suite, providing greater control and insight into the health and performance of an enterprise's Microsoft, UNIX, and Linux servers and the workloads running on them.
"ASCI is pleased to partner with Microsoft in supporting System Center, one of the industry's most reliable and complete solutions for managing physical and virtual IT platforms," said Jim Manias, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Advanced Systems Concepts. "Because many of our users employ System Center, it made sense for us to provide a management pack that integrates ActiveBatch monitoring into the SCOM interface."
"Through its System Center product line as well as its System Center Alliance, Microsoft is committed to delivering the best set of management solutions in the industry. As a new member of the Alliance program, Advanced Systems Concepts will bring a new dimension of value to System Center users," said JD Marymee, director strategic alliances, Management and Services Division, Microsoft Corporation. "Now System Center customers who run ASCI's ActiveBatch application will be able to expand the monitoring capabilities of Operations Manager to include ActiveBatch workload automation and job scheduling components."
Components covered in the ActiveBatch® Management Pack for Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 include the ActiveBatch Job Scheduler; Windows, UNIX and Linux Execution Agents; and other ActiveBatch objects such as jobs and job plans. When an alert is raised for an ActiveBatch or execution agent service or any "tagged" object, such as a job, plan or other ActiveBatch object timely alerts are raised that direct IT operations members to the SCOM console. There, detailed information is available that helps the administrator quickly resolve the issue.
Deployed at enterprises in 37 countries, ActiveBatch is a cross-platform Job Scheduler and Workload Automation solution that allows enterprises to centrally manage disparate jobs and workflows, including tasks involving the most common operating systems, enterprise business applications and even Web Services. Supporting Windows, UNIX, Linux and Open VMS platforms and applications as well as Web Services and SOA, ActiveBatch allows users to optimize enterprise resources; its central dashboard, Integrated Jobs Library, event-based architecture and "production-ready" job steps help users quickly and efficiently expedite the IT workload automation process.
