Free Public Bookworms Events in New York City Hotels Throughout National Book Month Feature Travel Writers, Poets, and Legendary Editors
NEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of National Book Month this October, Affinia Hotel Collection celebrates its affinity for books and the power of reading. The five boutique hotels in New York City (Dumont NYC, Fifty NYC, Gardens NYC, Manhattan NYC and Shelburne NYC) will host a book drive in partnership with The New York Public Library to offer an opportunity for New Yorkers and guests to free up space and give their books a new home. Throughout the month, each of the five Manhattan boutique hotels will also host free reading receptions by noteworthy authors, which are open to hotel guests and the public.
This National Book Month celebration kicks off Affinia's new book club, Affinia Bookworms – an ongoing hotel program aimed at introducing travelers to notable writers and their works each month. Affinia Hotel Collection guests are able to purchase the "Bookworm Recommendation of the Month" through the hotels' grab-and-go shops.
Author readings begin on October 1 in the hotels' public spaces. The lineup draws from a diverse group of travel writers, editors, blogger and poets. Highlights include:
