AFN Logistics Announces Major Growth Spurt Two Weeks After Acquiring LTL Company, HA Advantage
Nearly 25% revenue growth over three years ignites flurry of hiring, including several senior-level additions
NILES, Ill, Aug. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- AFN Logistics, which serves the needs of major manufacturers, top-20 retailers and best-in-class carriers in North America, today announced notable growth in both revenues and staff, including a series of strategic executive hires to continue to drive the expansion.
This comes on the heels of AFN's July 20 announcement that it acquired HA Advantage, the Transportation Management System (TMS) and Less than Truckload (LTL) division of HA Logistics, Inc. In addition to absorbing HA Advantage's proprietary TMS – a scalable, web-based, mobile-optimized solution that enables smarter, faster transportation decisions – several HA Advantage employees joined the AFN team, as well. The addition of new technology and team members will enhance AFN's existing LTL service offering, which is already a core capability for the company.
Superior Corporate Culture as a Growth Driver
AFN has grown to more than 200 full time team members in its suburban Chicago headquarters with nearly 15% increase in growth year-over-year. The company also announced a major expansion of its summer internship program from seven individuals last year to 23 this year, continuing a strong tradition of intern hiring and advancement.
AFN has proven to be highly desirable to work for – CEO, Ryan Daube, surprised fifteen non-executive team members with a private jet and tickets to Chicago Blackhawks game seven versus the St. Louis Blues in late-April, landing AFN coverage on WGN-TV and in the Chicago Tribune, as well as nods from NBC Chicago and ESPN Radio. Also of note are the state-of-the-art video and sound system in the office and the Friday afternoon beverage cart to foster camaraderie and reward team members for the week's hard work.
"Showing appreciation for our team is of critical importance to me and the entire executive team, and we pay great attention to ensuring people love coming to work every day," said Daube. "We're an incredibly integrated office that focuses on achieving success together. Whether you're part of the c-suite or a summer intern, everyone at AFN has a voice and is empowered to make a difference here."
The company has also seen double-digit revenue growth over the last three years. This has been driven by numerous new client wins, as well as notable organic growth with existing clients. In fact, AFN was named 2015 "Partner of the Year" by Ocean Spray, a long-time partner, in recognition of its high-touch service and superior performance.
Aligned Leadership
AFN has made several strategic hires over the past nine months to facilitate its rapid growth, These include:
- Owen Schnaper, Chief Operating Officer, who is responsible for the execution of AFN's strategy, the alignment and prioritization of company resources, and growth of the business while ensuring operational excellence across the organization.
- Rob Levy, Chief Financial Officer, who oversees the execution of AFN's investments in technology infrastructure and analytics, while ensuring financial discipline exists across the organization.
- Brian Winshall, Executive Vice President of Business Development, who leads AFN's client-centric teams in identifying new business opportunities and creating innovative, value-add supply chain solutions that help drive the success of AFN's clients.
- Erik Malin, Corporate Development, who is focused on driving AFN's change management initiatives, contributing to M&A activities, and ensuring that the organization is continuously improving critical business processes and alignment.
The revamped executive team adds several decades of industry experience from companies like C.H. Robinson, CarrierDirect, American Backhaulers, BP and more.
On the executive hires, AFN Vice President of HR, Jillian Lee, said, "We believe it's our unique culture and 'people-powered logistics' approach that has driven AFN's success. The new members of our leadership team are focused on maintaining and perpetuating our culture as we grow. Doing so is the only way to ensure that we can continue to deliver the best-in-class service our clients expect and deserve."
Award-Winning Business Model
AFN has continued to rack-up prestigious client and industry accolades including landing a spot on Supply & Demand Chain Executive "SDC100" for its fifth consecutive year. The award program highlights the top 100 supply chain projects and shines the spotlight on successful and innovative transformation projects that deliver superior value to businesses of all sizes.
"AFN took a highly collaborative approach to some of our most challenging lanes, and in spite of the difficulties, achieved a 98.9% acceptance rate while maintaining 95% on-time delivery," said Chris Domey, Senior Logistics Manager at Ocean Spray. "They achieved these KPIs while taking on one of Ocean Spray's most challenging receivers."
AFN also secured a spot on the Transport Topics Top 50 Freight Brokerage Firms list for the second year in a row, a listing of the largest logistics companies in North America. And the company was recently named a finalist for ChicagoInno's "100 Coolest Companies" list, which highlights Chicago companies with the best corporate cultures.
AFN continues to invest in its people, processes, and technology infrastructure in order to further empower its team to deliver exceptional service, including the recent implementation of Salesforce and Pardot, an upgrade of the company's transportation management system (TMS), and the development of proprietary technology.
