Aggregate Industries US Northeast Region Celebrates Centennial
Northeast Region Demonstrates Commitment to Community through Year-Long Service Project Initiative
WALTHAM, Mass., Dec. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Aggregate Industries US (AIUS), a Holcim Group Company, is marking the centennial of its parent company in 2012 with Together for Communities, a year-long initiative in which employees lead local volunteer projects. Throughout the year employees from AIUS' Northeast Region contributed more than 1,900 volunteer hours to community projects and events in the area.
"The employees in the Northeast Region have done a great job of recognizing and planning projects that directly benefit their community," said Filiberto Ruiz, deputy chief executive officer of Aggregate Industries US. "I commend the employees for their efforts over the past year. They've executed exceptional projects that serve local needs and advance the company's values of strength, performance and passion."
Throughout 2012, employees in the Northeast Region participated in numerous community events as part of the Together for Communities initiative. Many efforts focused on the environment and local needs particularly for children and families. Employees participated in Touch-a-Truck events and Quarry Tours where attendees learned through hands-on activities and bus tours inside the quarries.
Employees partnered with organizations across the region, including local sports teams in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and firefighters in Saugus, MA where employees volunteered at a Toys for Tots drive during the month of November. The region also contributed to Boston's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
Additional efforts focused on the revitalization of the Peabody Independence Greenway where volunteers cleared overgrown areas and prepared and paved a new parking lot for the bike path. Employees also participated in the revitalization of parks in Salem, MA and Riverside Park, Raymond, NH.
Together for Communities builds on the Holcim mission and extends the values that are essential to creating the highest quality products. Holcim Ltd hopes to engage as many of its 80,000 worldwide employees as possible to volunteer for one day in their community. Because Holcim recognizes employees have unique knowledge of their communities, each project is employee-led and geared toward local needs. Though each volunteer activity is driven by local needs, the initiative is a global one.
