FRANKENMUTH, Mich., July 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Advantage, an Internet Service Provider serving the Thumb and Southeast Michigan, announced today that litigation between the Company and the United States government has ended and the parties' claims against each other have been dismissed.
The United States brought a suit against Air Advantage in March 2016 regarding an amount of funds owed by the company to the government. Air Advantage responded with its own claim against the United States in August 2016 disputing the amount of funds properly owed by Air Advantage. After months of negotiation, a settlement has been reached.
"We're thrilled to have found a fair and amicable resolution for both parties and to put this matter behind us," said Scott Zimmer, Air Advantage co-founder. "Despite the distraction, over the past several years, Air Advantage has substantially upgraded its network services, and is now eager to return our full attention to providing fast, reliable internet services to our business and residential customers."
Since 2002, Air Advantage has been providing internet and data services to schools, hospitals, libraries, government agencies, businesses and homes in both rural and metro areas throughout the Thumb and Southeast Michigan. The Company's proprietary network includes 450-miles of optic-fiber plus more than 150 strategically-located transmission towers offering broadband wireless. This network is then interconnected to other regional, state and national providers giving Air Advantage customers fast, reliable service across a state of the art network.
According to Zimmer, Air Advantage is experiencing a sharp rise in demand for its fiber services throughout the Thumb and in Saginaw and Bay Counties. The Company has also recently upgraded 20% of its transmission towers to enhance broadband wireless performance and coverage area. Additional upgrades are planned in the near future.
"Litigation is always challenging, so we're glad it's behind us. We're appreciative of our customers, both new and old, for their patience as this matter was resolved. Providing affordable commercial-grade internet service to business and residential customers throughout our region has always been our goal and our promise. It's a responsibility we take very seriously," said Zimmer.
