Airfoil opens City of Detroit office through TechTown Detroit partnership
DETROIT, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Airfoil, a marketing and public relations firm for innovative companies, today announced the opening of a City of Detroit office located in TechTown Detroit at 440 Burroughs St. in Detroit's Midtown. The office will serve as a dedicated location to provide marketing communications counsel to TechTown and entrepreneurs it serves, as well as future clients for whom a City of Detroit office is desired or preferred.
"We are energized and inspired by this collaborative partnership with TechTown Detroit," said Lisa Vallee-Smith, Airfoil Co-Founder and Co-CEO. "This City of Detroit office brings us full circle back to our founding in 2000, when we started the firm and launched from the then Smart Detroit accelerator in The Penobscot Building. We're thrilled to have a presence in the City once again and we are excited to work alongside TechTown and its promising entrepreneurs to share their stories with the world."
Airfoil will provide strategic communications guidance to TechTown and its current roster of startups. As Detroit's most established start-up accelerator and incubator, it offers several programs to assist emerging businesses in entering the marketplace. The nonprofit also has a neighborhood-focused economic development program and a co-working space for local entrepreneurs at its 440 Burroughs facility.
Airfoil's City of Detroit office expands Airfoil's geographic footprint, which includes offices in Southfield, Mich., Sunnyvale, Calif., and New York City. Airfoil also maintains a global partner network with a presence in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
"We are helping to write a remarkable chapter in Detroit's history, wherein the power of individual entrepreneurs move an entire city forward," said Leslie Lynn Smith, TechTown president and CEO. "Our partnership with Airfoil is spot-on with our mission to connect our city's most innovative business owners to a resource network that enables them to soar."
Airfoil has been invested in the success of the Detroit business market since day one. After its time in the historic Penobscot Building, located in the City's central business district, the firm moved to the 1001 Woodward building overlooking Campus Martius to accommodate new clients and a larger staff.
