AirTight Expands Product Portfolio to Meet Growing Demand for its Cloud-managed Wi-Fi Solution Software-configurable APs and Flexible Cloud Architecture Redefines Scalability and Ease of Use
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AirTight® Networks today announced the addition of the C-55 access point (AP) to its cloud-managed Wi-Fi™ solution for multi-unit retail. The new dual-band, dual-concurrent 2x2:2 802.11n AP joins the existing C-50 and C-60 models to provide customers with broad flexibility for designing and managing large, highly distributed Wi-Fi networks that meet their evolving needs for scalability and security.
AirTight has experienced explosive growth as enterprises seek to avoid the cost, complexity and limitations associated with managing traditional controller-based WLANs. In addition to eliminating the need for WLAN controllers, AirTight Wi-Fi solutions also provide the company's top-rated wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) coupled with its carrier-class HTML5 management console for centrally managing thousands of locations from a single interface. This has made the solution popular for large distributed environments such as retail stores and remote offices. Retail chains that have recently adopted the AirTight cloud-managed Wi-Fi solution include Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Pinkberry, Garden Fresh Restaurant Corporation, Noodles & Company, the Vitamin Shoppe, and Modell's Sporting Goods.
"This was one of the easiest technology projects I've ever managed. There have been no issues and nothing but positive feedback," said Phil Mix, IT network manager at frozen yogurt chain Pinkberry, Inc.
"AirTight's controller-less Wi-Fi was designed from the ground up as a native cloud-managed network," said Kaustubh Phanse, Principal Wireless Architect and Chief Evangelist at AirTight. "While controller-based Wi-Fi incumbents are busy reworking their traditional offerings to operate in the cloud, we're able to build from our already extensive cloud-based security and access architecture to truly innovate for our customers."
AirTight recently announced AirTight Social Wi-Fi™ and the AirTight Retail Wi-Fi Analytics Engine to offer retailers online business intelligence and an omni-channel marketing platform for engaging customers with personalized in-store experiences. By adding customizable guest portals and Wi-Fi login via social channels, retailers can provide their customers with the ability to self-identify in return for a highly personalized and localized in-store shopping experience based on their individual, browsing, sharing and shopping preferences.
AirTight's cloud-managed Wi-Fi solution offers the following comprehensive set of features entirely in the cloud:
- Plug-and-play deployment and configuration of APs
- Centralized web-based management and monitoring
- Customizable guest Wi-Fi login portal
- Social integration and analytics
- Comprehensive security and automatic scanning
- PCI compliance reporting
The C-55 AP joins the existing AirTight C-50 and C-60 AP product line that provides customers with their choice of AP and WIPS sensor configurations including dual band/non-concurrent, dual band/concurrent, dual AP with background WIPS, overlay WIPS, or AP/sensor combo with dedicated dual-band WIPS sensor.
