Alexandria Elks to Start The ROCK (Route One Community Kitchen)
CHICAGO, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With some help from the Elks National Foundation, the charitable arm of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Alexandria Elks will use funds to continue holding a soup kitchen at the Lodge 5 days a week, as well as purchase some needed equipment. Donations have fallen off recently, and the funds will keep the program going.
The ROCK (Route One Community Kitchen) will be funded by an Impact Grant awarded to the Alexandria Elks by the Elks National Foundation. Impact Grants are the newest addition to the Elks National Foundation's Community Investments Program. They are competitive grants designed to help Elks make a difference in their community. This year, Alexandria Elks Lodge No. 758 is one of 49 recipients nationwide to receive an Impact Grant. The grants range from $2,500 to $10,000.
