All Ways Up Foundation Announces The Third Annual Bridging The Gap Awards
Submissions accepted Oct. 10 - Oct. 31
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The All Ways Up Foundation is pleased to announce that it is accepting submissions for its Third Annual Bridging the Gap Awards, a matching grant that assists smaller-sized non-profit organizations aligned with our mission — working hard to help low-income residents all around the country bridge the gap between their ambition and their opportunity to achieve. In 2014, the All Ways Up Foundation will allocate funds for two separate awards: The Bridging the Gap Grants, available to nonprofit organizations, and the Community Builder Awards, for individual change makers.
The Bridging the Gap grant will provide up to $20,000 in matching funds to community based nonprofit organizations. This funding opportunity targets organizations that use innovative methods to positively impact individuals living in low-income communities. The awards are designed as "matching grants" so that the organizations receive funds in direct proportion to their own fundraising efforts. Grantees will receive a one-time, minimally restricted, matching donation grant, to further their mission. Recipients will also become eligible for other foundation initiatives. The Community Builder Award will recognize one amazing change maker, who has dedicated his or her life to building up low income communities. Recipient will receive a one-time unrestricted grant of $3,000 and a year's worth of student loan payments (up to $1,000 per month*).
"The Bridging the Gap Awards recognizes the vital work being done in communities across the U.S. by unique individuals and small organizations creating an extraordinary social impact. Despite their limited financial resources, each one is helping to transform lives and create a sea of change in their communities," says Greg Perlman, All Ways Up Founder.
To qualify for the Bridging the Gap Awards, organizations must have an annual budget between $25,000 and $1,000,000, operate in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia, and be change-makers in the areas of education; the arts; mentorship; college preparation; civic engagement; family and parental development; literacy; or youth leadership and development.
"The All Ways Up Foundation recognizes that we are better as a community when we work together," explains Shaun-Teka Joyner, Executive Director. "Last year, with the assistance of our partners, we gave 100 college scholarships and sent 50 students to our acclaimed Annual Up Through Education Summit. This year we hope to give even more."
