March fundraiser aims to secure over $75,000 to provide meals and gifts for more than 2,500 families and 5,000 children in tri-state area
NEW YORK and WESTPORT, Conn., Feb. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Al's Angels, a non-profit charitable organization founded by Westport CT resident and Zeta Interactive CEO, Al DiGuido, today announced its second in a series of "24 Hours" fund raising events; 24 Hours of Strikes Bowling Marathon to be held on the weekend of March 19th and 20th at the Lucky Strike Lanes, located at 624-660 W 42nd Street in Manhattan.
"24 Hours of Strikes" is a bowling marathon intended to raise funds to provide meals and holiday gifts for children and families suffering from life threatening illnesses, cancer, rare blood diseases and severe financial hardship within the tri-state area.
Participants in the bowling marathon will bowl for a minimum of a 30 minute time period. The objective of every bowler participating in the event is to knock down as many pins as they can within their slotted time. Registrants will solicit family, friends and colleagues to sponsor them by pledging $1, $5, $10 and more per pin knocked down. A "strike" will yield 3-times the pin donation.
100 percent of all proceeds from this event will go directly to supporting Al's Angels efforts in 2011 to provide over 2,500 area families and 5,000 children with holiday meals and gifts during the upcoming holiday season. Al's Angels hopes to raise in excess of $75,000 at this event.
With limited time slots available, interested participants are encouraged to register ASAP at www.24hoursofstrikes.com for their 30 minute slot. Bowlers will feast on great appetizers, beer, and wine inside the Lucky Strike Lanes sumptuous club-like setting. Al's Angels has just completed its 2010 holiday outreach, where it provided more than 2,000 families in the tri-state area with Thanksgiving, Hanukkah & Christmas meals. Santa and Frosty visited 12 different venues in the region and distributed nearly 5,000 gifts to children and families battling cancer, rare blood diseases & severe financial hardship (photos of the outreach efforts are available). The Angels continue to work very closely with quality partners on its many initiatives, including Tomorrow's Children's Fund, St. Barnabas Hospital, Union Community Health Center, CLASP Homes, Mercy Learning Center, Columbia Presbyterian, Saint Christopher Ottille, and others.
The work of Al's Angels continues to draw tremendous attention and acceptance in the tri state area. The group currently has attracted over 1,000 members who take an active part in the fundraising, meal assembly, gift wrapping and delivery . The organization holds a series of fundraisers throughout the year to provide it with the necessary funds to continue to expand its work reaching those who are suffering "under the radar " as founder Al DiGuido often reminds donors.
Every Pin does count at 24 Hours of Strikes. For more information on Al's Angels, 24 Hours of Strikes and the work done by the organization to provide support to those in need, please consult the Al's Angels website www.Alsangels.org or www.24hoursofstrikes.com.
