Altitude (and a Little Attitude) Makes for Flavorful Barbecue at Frisco's 17th Annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge
The Town of Frisco hosts national barbecue contest June 17 - 19, 2010
FRISCO, Colo., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Town of Frisco brings the time-honored American tradition of barbecue back to the Rockies during the 17th Annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge on June 17 - 19, 2010. This Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event attracts teams from across the country to compete for top honors and bragging rights as the best barbecuer at altitude. There will be plenty of activities for the entire family, including pig racing, the "kid's kook-off" contest and live bands.
"The Colorado Barbecue Challenge was a huge success last year and we're looking forward to making the event even bigger this year," said Michael Penny, Frisco town manager. Last year The Colorado Barbecue Challenge saw a 35 percent increase in attendance from the previous year. More than 60 teams competed in 2009's event, providing food to more than 30,000 people. Frisco raised nearly $60,000 at the two-day event.
This year's Colorado Barbecue Challenge will feature a special event for whiskey lovers, the Stranahan's Whiskey Rub it, Sip it, Smoke it tour. Tour participants will taste various barbecue from a variety of competitors and learn how Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey distills their award-winning whiskey.
