"We certainly have always represented music artists," Nash says, "But when we expanded our breadth of work to include film and television, the opportunities increased, and we were able to serve our clients better."
The diversity of Altius clients has been especially evident in recent days. Nash said, "This week, I produced a new music video for Gavin DeGraw that was directed by award-winning director Carl Diebold. We shut down the downtown pedestrian bridge and despite the unexpected rain, Gavin performed on a Yamaha grand piano at night on the bridge next to four giant searchlights, 500 extras and a helicopter that shot the wide shots for an epic overhead view of the bridge and downtown skyline. Then only four days later, Starz network debuted the new hour-long comedy special that I produced for my client Darryl Lenox. The album came out on iTunes on Tuesday, and critics are already calling it one of the top comedy sets of this year. This week has been a perfect example of the variety and the synergy that make my job so rewarding."
And his abilities and insights have not gone unnoticed - in the past year, he has contributed articles to The Wall Street Journal and guested on nationally syndicated radio programs.
Nash and Altius have worked closely with client filmmaker Howie Klausner (Space Cowboys, The Grace Card) in strategically developing and managing the marketing for the filming of The Identical, a film featuring an ensemble cast including Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, Seth Green, Joe Pantoliano, and Erin Cottrell and written by Klausner. The firm is working on several film projects in the pipeline, as well as a literary endeavour with Klausner.
At the same time, Altius has bridged the gap to both the corporate and charitable worlds - for example, launching The Moustache Song for "Movember" and sparking the official creation of the duo now known as The Fishin' Creek Bandits.
"The future has never looked brighter -- I'm working harder than ever, but finding more fulfillment in this businesses than I had ever hoped for," Nash says. "Already the 2013 schedule is taking shape for even more expansion with some very interesting comedy projects and an even deeper allocation of resources to the film and television side of Altius."
He is quick to point out that music was what brought him into the entertainment industry, becoming a radio DJ at the age of nine and going on to tour the world and manage music acts. "Music will always be a focus for Altius. The diversity and flexibility of a small firm is absolutely essential, now more than ever. We're building brands in a way that bridges industries and highlights talented individuals. That means something."
