American Airlines' Thomas Horton Headlines Sunday Night Live Session At 2012 GBTA Convention

Head of Iconic Legacy Airline and GBTA's Michael W. McCormick Sit for One-on-One Discussion

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the voice of the business travel industry, today announced Thomas Horton , Chairman, President, and CEO of AMR Corporation and American Airlines, Inc. will join GBTA Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Michael W. McCormick for the opening session at the annual 2012 GBTA Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. The Welcome Session: GBTA's Sunday Night Live, sponsored by J.P. Morgan | AirPlus, will be held Sunday night from 5:00 - 6:00 pm ET on July 22, 2012. Horton will provide a distinct perspective on the drivers changing the airline industry and will discuss what is in store for AMR through the restructuring and how those changes will impact business travel.

Horton was promoted to President, AMR Corporation and American Airlines in July 2010, and was named Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of AMR Corporation and American Airlines, Inc. in November 2011 succeeding Gerard Arpey . 

Previously, Horton served as Executive Vice President — Finance and Planning and Chief Financial Officer of AMR and American. He was named to that position in March 2006 upon returning to American from AT&T Corp., where he had been Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer. 

Horton initially joined AMR in 1985 and held a range of senior financial positions with AMR, including Vice President and Controller.  From 1998 to 2000, he was Vice President responsible for the airline's Europe business, based in London.  He holds an MBA degree from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University and graduated with a BBA degree, magna cum laude from Baylor University.
