America's Road Team Captains Participate in MEMA's 2016 Ride and Drive
ARLINGTON, Va., May 18, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, American Trucking Associations and America's Road Team, at the invitation of Bendix, are speaking to the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association's 2016 Ride and Drive attendees about the safety and essentiality of the trucking industry.
"Professional drivers play an important role in the economy and on the nation's highways, so we're thankful that Bendix invited America's Road Team Captains to Ride and Drive to speak with key lawmakers about our industry," said America's Road Team Captain Don Biggerstaff, of ABF Freight. "As a driver, I get peace of mind from learning about the next frontier of safety technology and I'm thankful we get to share our safety message with the public."
Ride and Drive is designed to give pioneers in the truck technology field, like Bendix, an opportunity to showcase current and future safety technologies for both light and heavy vehicles. Legislators, regulators and industry representatives will have a hands-on demonstration with these technologies and experience the enduring benefits of the trucking industry's more than $7 billion annual investment in safety technology.
"We really are a safety-first industry. Drivers go through extensive training and have access to the best automotive technology available," said America's Road Team Captain Wayne Crowder. "All of this technology helps make the roads safer so that the motoring public and I get to go home safely to our families after work."
Bendix is a supporter of ATA's Interstate One Image Tractor-trailer, a mobile classroom complete with a state-of-the-art driving simulator. Interstate One tours the country with America's Road Team, delivering a message of safety and of trucking's essentiality to school groups, public officials, the media and community organizations. At Ride and Drive, America's Road Team Captains are appearing at the Bendix booth to discuss these important trucking matters with event attendees.
