America's Sewer-Hero Makes National Debut
Mr. Sewer - the nation's newest sewer and drain franchise - to launch expansion plans at trade expo
PEORIA, Ill., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Mr. Sewer is making its debut as a national franchise Feb. 24-27 at the 30th Annual Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo, in Louisville, KY - the 75th largest tradeshow in the U.S., according to Tradeshow Week magazine.
"This is World's Fair of our industry, and we plan to meet many prospective franchisees while we are at the expo," said Bruce Winborn, president of Mr. Sewer Franchising Inc.
The company reflects its reputation as America's Sewer-Hero through its corporate logo, which features a caped man with a red "S" emblazoned on his chest and a plunger by his side. Yet while the company has a sense of humor, its management and staff take business quite seriously. "We provide a necessary service that transcends economic conditions," explained Winborn.
The franchise concept is based on the original Mr. Sewer concept that began in 1982 in Peoria, IL. "We took our Peoria business model and added many upgrades to make it franchise-friendly," stated Winborn. "Our service vans are equipped with notebook computers, GPS systems and wireless Internet. This greatly improves response time, a critical factor in this business."
Mr. Sewer is offering significant incentives to entice prospective franchisees. "Many small operators serving medium-size metropolitan areas have been ignored by franchising companies, and many larger cities need another offering to service those areas as well," said Chief Operations Officer Martin Winborn. "We are here to fill that need in the marketplace."
He added that while many existing contractors can benefit from Mr. Sewer's branding approach, only a fraction of them will be awarded territories. "We have a set of standards that all prospective Mr. Sewer franchisees must meet. We want to recruit the best people who are already in business and help them develop a loyal base of repeat and referral customers."
Bruce Winborn acknowledges that the business is for hard workers committed to the trade. "This is a very demanding job," he said. "I've done it all myself - I still get out there and get dirty. I'll bet I'm the only corporation president out there who wears overalls."

About Mr. Sewer
Bruce Winborn, a self-taught entrepreneur, founded Mr. Sewer in 1982. Starting with $3,000 of borrowed money and a used station wagon, he built a business offering sewer/drain cleaning services in the Central Illinois area. More than 25 years and 30,000 service calls later, Winborn began sharing some of his ideas on video. These homemade clips are featured on YouTube and have developed a cult following. The series has been viewed by audiences worldwide, and caught the attention of an East Coast franchise developer who joined forces with Winborn to form the Mr. Sewer franchise in 2009.
