'America's Teen Court' Debuts From Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ --Annette D. Colbert-Latham pitched a new court show concept to H. Gray Frederickson, and Dave Greene, both Adjunct Professors, at Oklahoma City Community College, during the Summer of 2009. To launch the original concept, Colbert-Latham needed a video demo with a willing Judge as an advisor, to sign-off on the project. The ad-hoc team encouraged Annette to investigate the options of giving the project a start from Oklahoma City.
"Gray opened the door for me to pitch the concept to Art Bergel, the Director of 'Judge Alex,' in Houston," Annette D. Colbert-Latham recalls. "But the project required more research." She reached out to Russell Cook, a peer from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, for more direction. "He connected me with Mike Mayberry, Deputy Director of the Oklahoma Supreme Court Network" (http://www.oscn.net). "That first meeting with Mike helped with the development and the logistics of the show, and a few concepts were changed to comply with the law. Mike is a wealth of information since he works exclusively with Judges, who are Active, retired-Active or Active-retired."
That meeting included Sue Tate, also from OSCN, and the three of them agreed that the Honorable Annita M. Bridges would be a great host, as she embodies the expertise and the right presence to deal with the multi-layered situations that teens bring into the courtroom. From the show's demo video, you can see how well she will be able to handle the diverse issues of teens, with a project of this magnitude.
"And she's gracefully elegant," states Annette D. Colbert-Latham. "Honorable Judge Annita M. Bridges is prepared on many levels, because of her passionate love for people, regardless of their environment and present situation or circumstance."
Television court shows are big business, and a show of this magnitude would bring much-needed jobs to those already trained in the craft of television. Students and graduates of the radio/tv/film programs at Oklahoma colleges and universities can hone their new skills proudly here in Oklahoma. "We desire to do many other projects on a National level because Oklahoma is the Heartland, and 'America's Teen Court' will show how Oklahomans can deliver great television and film projects to the world," states Colbert-Latham.
