Research Methodology

•Frost & Sullivan conducted a web-based survey to ascertain which wireless technologies play a significant role in the business activity of end users globally.
•Industry representatives from various stakeholders in the value chain participated in the survey. They consisted of network operators, network equipment manufacturers, as well as contractors and other telecom and wireless consulting firms.
•Their designations ranged from C-level executives, directors, and vice presidents to general managers and engineers.
•The participants were asked to rate network technologies which they felt had a significant impact on their business. They were required to do this on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 signifying low impact and 10 signifying high impact on business development.
•These results were then extrapolated and converted into percentage breakdowns, for easier understanding.

•Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA):
An entirely different telecommunications infrastructure in which data from disparate sources are multiplexed onto a single transmission line.
•Wideband-Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA):
An air interface technology, used to transfer information between portable equipment at a much higher rate of speed.
•High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA):
A combination of uplink (HSUPA) and downlink (HSDPA) technologies. It is an enhanced version of W-CDMA.
