Announcing…Opening Day of the 2014 iaedp Symposium
ST. PETE, Fla., Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, provider of educational programs and training standards for eating disorder specialists and other medical professionals caring for those suffering from the full spectrum of disordered eating, is proud to announce the opening of its 28th annual iaedp Symposium at the Trade Winds Resort in St. Petersburg, Florida, February 26-March 2. The 2014 Symposium kicks off with the start of pre-certification courses and will continue with three keynote speakers as headliners, interactive workshops as well as the reveal of the "Imagine Me" mannequin art competition winners.
"The field of eating disorders is always changing, whether it is treatment methods, new research or a new healthcare system," said Bonnie Harken, Managing Director of the iaedp Foundation. "The purpose of the Symposium is to provide a forum for eating disorder professionals to discuss these changes as well as educate and exchange information."
The 2014 Symposium offers four days of training sessions and instructive presentations. Highlights of the 39 offered sessions include: family involvement in eating disorders, the use of Acceptance Commitment Therapy and insights into Binge Eating Disorder.
Due to its extreme popularity, iaedp will once again offer its pre-certification courses onsite at Symposium 2014. With these courses, professionals who are new to the field or do not specialize in eating disorders can receive a first-hand, comprehensive introduction to eating disorder treatment.
The 2014 Symposium also will reveal the winner of the fourth annual "Imagine Me Beyond What You See" body image art competition. Out of a record 20 submissions from treatment centers, private practices and individuals from around the world, five were recently chosen as finalists, with the winner being announced and spotlighted at the Symposium.
"We couldn't be more excited about this year's Symposium," said Harken. "With the return of pre-certification courses and record submissions for Imagine Me, plus the renowned speakers and featured workshops, the 2014 Symposium is the best yet."
