Annual Sugarland Auction biggest ever for Weeks Auction Company
OCALA, Fla., Feb. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Weeks Auction Company's 19th Annual Sugarland Auction was the biggest ever, with more than 2,500 pieces of equipment from U.S. Sugar and more than 400 other consignors selling in two days. The auction featured tractors, excavators, trucks, wheel loaders, loader backhoes and other equipment.
"We had bidding going on in two rings all day for two days, with hundreds of people bidding live and others bidding online from all over the world, including such places as Saudia Arabia, Great Britain and Canada," said Weeks Auction Company's Bill Catsulis.
Bidding on Friday, Feb. 21, went nonstop from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Weeks added a third ring for part of the day and continued for more than 12 hours to get all of the equipment sold.
"This event has become so well known that sellers and buyers alike schedule around it long before we begin promoting the event. There's a great deal of satisfaction in realizing the important role this event plays in putting equipment in the hands of those who can make good use of it for construction, agriculture, or resale," said Catsulis.
The company now turns its attention to its monthly consignment auction, set for March 14 at the company's headquarters in Ocala. "The work of providing an efficient marketplace for the sale and purchase of equipment never ends, and we're already accepting consignments for our next event," said Catsulis.
