CHICO, Calif., Jan. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Exactly one year ago, Anonabox began fulfilling orders from a recently completed Indiegogo campaign. Now, the privacy router developer will formally introduce itself to one of the largest and most-respected technology conferences anywhere.
Anonabox will debut three new privacy devices at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The Chico, Calif.-based company is one of more than a dozen other start-ups to showcase their products at The GARAGE in AppNation.
Anonabox is a pocket-sized privacy device that uses VPN services (Virtual Private Network) or the Tor network to help keep online browsing private, bypass censorship, deter hackers and access the deep web. The Anonabox Original routed Internet traffic through the Tor network, cloaking users' IP address and location, while ensuring online activity was anonymous, as seen in this product video.
The new generation of Anonabox devices features an advanced user interface, as well as the option of using the Tor network or a VPN (featuring HideMyAss! Pro services). Earlier this year, Anonabox agreed to terms with tech distributor Ingram Micro, paving the way for the devices to reach retail locations.
"We feel AppNation at CES is the perfect stage to show the public what our three new Anonabox devices are capable of," says CEO and Founder Marc Preston. "Their technology and capabilities are all truly worth looking at and considering."
The new devices are:
- Fawkes: An upgraded Original, includes admin interface; Tor bridge, relay or exit; and a WiFi uplink and range extender
- Tunneler: Features HMA! Pro VPN interface; third-party VPN interface; WiFi uplink and range extender; and admin interface
- Anonabox PRO: The top-tier device, and includes Tor and HMA! Pro VPN service; third-party VPN interface; WiFi uplink and range extender; USB filesharing; and admin interface
Legendary computer hacker and "phone phreaker" John Draper (widely known in tech lore as "Captain Crunch") recently audited the devices and will also be at the Anonabox AppNation booth.
Anonabox privacy routers provide a robust layer of anonymity and privacy to web browsing by routing Internet traffic over the Tor network or via built-in VPN services (Virtual Private Network). These measures cloak the user's IP address and location, allow the user to easily access the Deep Web, bypass censorship, and much more.
