MIDDLETOWN, Pa., Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With another roll last night, the Pennsylvania Lottery's Match 6 Lotto jackpot is pushing even further into record territory: a $7.3 million jackpot awaits players for the Thursday, Oct. 3, drawing.

This is Match 6 Lotto's hottest jackpot run in more than six years. The game's previous record was a $6.9 million prize won in the March 23, 2007 drawing.

This jackpot has been rising since one ticket matched all six winning numbers in the May 13 drawing.

Although the jackpot has remained elusive, millions of players have continued to win. Nearly 4.3 million Match 6 tickets have won almost $16 million since the current jackpot run began.

In last night's drawing, more than 185,500 Match 6 Lotto tickets won prizes totaling over $681,700 -- including 63 tickets that each won $1,000.

The odds of winning the Match 6 Lotto jackpot are roughly 1-in-4.6 million, among the Pennsylvania Lottery's best odds of winning a multimillion-dollar jackpot.

In the Pennsylvania Lottery's last fiscal year, Match 6 Lotto's average advertised jackpot was approximately $1.1 million. It reached $2 million or higher only 15 times.

How to Play Match 6 Lotto: Match 6 tickets cost $2 each. Players can choose six numbers from 1 to 49 or have numbers randomly selected by computer. The computer will then randomly select an additional two sets of six numbers, for three lines of six numbers each or 18 numbers total. Players can win up to four times on each ticket – once on each of three lines (base play) and by combining all 18 numbers (combined play).

Match 6 Lotto drawings are held on Monday and Thursday evenings.

The Pennsylvania Lottery reminds its players to play responsibly. Players must be 18 or older.
