Anritsu Company Introduces Unique Traffic-shaping Appliance To Reduce Packet Loss Caused by Latency
- Accurate Bandwidth Control Capability Allows PureFlow™ GS1 to Cost-efficiently Reduce Packet Loss Caused by Latency -
RICHARDSON, Texas, May 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Anritsu Company (booth #2155) will introduce PureFlow GS1, a cost-effective, traffic-shaping network appliance that offers superior bandwidth control accuracy of <1% for shaping and assuring network traffic priority, at Interop, beginning May 7 in Las Vegas. The high-performance bandwidth-shaping engine of the PureFlow GS1 allows it to have 10x greater accuracy than alternative appliances and helps the PureFlow GS1 establish a stable communications environment equivalent to a dedicated line.
PureFlow GS1 technology prioritizes management and traffic shaping to ensure fair access for mission critical applications and improving traffic-bandwidth-constraint/latency problems in data centers and remote locations across a WAN. FE/GbE maximum throughput performance in both the uplink and downlink directions helps maximize return on investment in WAN bandwidth by offering burst traffic solutions to service providers using high-speed, large-capacity lines as virtual private networks.
High-accuracy, microsecond-order, packet scheduling is achieved using the precision bandwidth control technology developed for PureFlow GS1, which supports 100M/1Gbps speeds. Packet loss interfering with communications on WAN and mobile broadband networks is improved, as traffic shaping greatly reduces the number of "microbursts," minimizing latency for FE/GbE communications environment.
PureFlow GS1 can be used in a variety of networks, including corporate, financial systems, and entertainment networks with video-on-demand services. It provides accurate bandwidth shaping for up to 4906 queues for simultaneous fine granular traffic control. PureFlow GS1 detects line faults and notifies the link-down status to other connected equipment, supporting effective redundancy switching for STP network link configurations. A port that supports SSH access for high-security administration access makes the PureFlow GS1 well-suited for financial networks.
Benefits Highlighted in 'Microburst' Demonstration
Anritsu recently conducted a demonstration that showed how 1 Gbps packet "microbursts" from a server can be shaped to the optimum packet interval using the PureFlow GS1 series. Simulated server traffic was monitored with 1-ms resolution using the Anritsu MD1230B Data Quality Analyzer, which visualized "microbursts" and shaped traffic in real time.
The capability showcased in the demonstration is vital in today's networks, as businesses are accelerating their BCP (Business Continuity Plan) countermeasures, increasing use of data centers and cloud services in the IT field. These services greatly increase traffic flow on carriers' networks. In the mobile communications field, the explosive growth of smartphones and tablets is causing rapid increases in backhaul traffic, as well.
As a countermeasure, the data communications industry is accelerating development of efficient networks with higher speeds and larger capacity. Along with the expected increases in rich-content data, traffic "microbursts" causing unexpected packet losses are also starting to appear more frequently, increasing the need for traffic bandwidth control on those infrastructure.
