Apache Announces Changes in Operational Leadership

 

HOUSTON, May 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Apache Corporation (NYSE, Nasdaq: APA) today announced the following promotions and appointments to its management team:

  • Jon Jeppesen has been promoted to the new role of executive vice president overseeing the operations of the Gulf of Mexico Shelf, Deepwater and Gulf Coast Onshore regions.
  • Jon Graham has been named vice president of the global environmental, health and safety organization.
  • Mark Bauer has been promoted to region vice president for the Gulf of Mexico Shelf.
  • Michael Bose moved up to region vice president and country manager for Argentina.
  • Graham Lawton was named vice president – liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects, leading the Kitimat project team for the LNG facility and Pacific Trail Pipelines.
  • Kenny Paterson has been named vice president, LNG marketing and shipping, of Apache Energy Ltd.

Background

Before assuming his current role, Jeppesen served as executive vice president, senior vice president and regional vice president for the Gulf Coast Region. He also served as the company's vice president of exploration and development for North America and manager of the company's offshore exploration and development. Prior to joining the company in 1993, Jeppesen was vice president of exploration and development for Pacific Enterprises Oil Co., Dallas, Texas. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in geology from Kansas State University and is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Houston Geological Society.

Graham was appointed region vice president and country manager of Argentina in 2009. He was vice president of reservoir engineering in Canada from 2006 to 2009 and joined the company in 1994 as reservoir engineering manager in the Rockies Region. He was also reservoir engineering manager for the Western and Gulf of Mexico regions, Gulf Coast Onshore Region vice president, and engineering general manager for Apache Egypt Companies. Prior to joining Apache, he was associated with Hunt Oil Co., Pacific Enterprises Oil Co., Santa Fe Minerals and Amoco. Graham holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of MissouriRolla and his MBA from the University of Oklahoma.

Bauer had been director of planning since 2009. Previously, he was reservoir engineering manager in the Gulf Coast Region, manager for international in corporate reservoir engineering (CRE), and managing director of Apache's Poland operations. He joined the company in 1992 as a senior staff reservoir engineer in CRE. Prior to joining Apache, Bauer held engineering positions at Exxon and Transco Exploration and Production. He holds a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.

Bose moved to his current position after being appointed development/exploitation manager for the Argentina region in 2010. Previously, he was region production manager of South Permian. Bose joined Apache in 2004 as a senior staff production engineer. During his career at Apache he has held several positions of increasing responsibility in production and operations in the Gulf Coast, Central and Permian regions. Prior to joining the company, he worked for Anadarko Petroleum Corp. in various production, drilling, completions and reservoir engineering positions. Bose holds a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University.

Lawton joined Apache in March 2011. He brings 30 years of experience in the gas industry – with 15 years in LNG projects – and has worked in the United Kingdom, United States, Tunisia, Singapore, Trinidad, India and Peru. Prior to joining Apache, Lawton was vice president of LNG at Hunt Oil Co. since 2005 and served as general manager of COLP, the operating company of Peru LNG. Previously, he was operations director at Marathon Oil Co. where he worked for Equatorial Guinea (EG) LNG. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years with BG Group. Lawton is a fellow of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers, a fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and a chartered engineer. Lawton received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Sheffield in England.

Paterson joined Apache in 2010 as director of Asia oil and gas marketing, working in the Perth office. Previously, he worked in Woodside Energy Ltd for 10 years in positions of increasing responsibility in business development with Asia and LNG marketing for the North West Shelf LNG project. He also spent 14 years with Shell UK Exploration and Production in business development, planning, engineering and operational roles. Paterson holds an MBA from Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow and a bachelor's degree in electronic and electrical engineering from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland.
