SCHAUMBURG, Ill, July 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Applied Pathways announced that its Curion® Platform recently earned certification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to be a Certified Decision Support Mechanism (CDSM). According to the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) of 2014, CDSMs are the only approved bodies that can provide the Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) that clinical professionals will be required to use when ordering advanced diagnostic imaging services for their patients.
As defined in the PAMA legislation, a CDSM is an interactive, electronic tool for use by clinicians that communicates AUC information to the user and assists them in making the most appropriate treatment decision for a patient's specific clinical condition.
The Curion® Platform is a sophisticated rules engine that incorporates visual rules authoring and execution so that your experts' knowledge can be injected into any third party application, including an EHR, a patient portal, a nurse triage call center or any other clinical application. The requisite AUC will be delivered through Curion® Go, which is a stand-alone solution built on the Curion® Platform.
Steve Lefar, CEO of Applied Pathways, said, "Our efforts to build Curion into a world-class Clinical Decision Support Platform have resulted in being one of only 8 firms to garner certification." He continued, "Our ability to enable turn-key compliance with the PAMA AUC legislation and simultaneously provide an easy-to-use Clinical Decision Support platform for any clinical scenario a provider may have makes both clinician and IT teamwork easier as they march toward the January 2019 roll out of the mandate."
