Aristotle Names Former Federal Election Commission Chairman Dave Mason Senior Vice President of Compliance Services
WASHINGTON, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Federal Election Commission (FEC) Chairman David Mason has joined Aristotle, the internationally recognized leader in political data-mining and compliance technology. He will be the company's Senior Vice-President of Compliance Services.
"Dave is one of the brightest minds in political finance law," said John Aristotle Phillips, CEO of Aristotle. "His reputation on the Hill and with colleagues at the FEC, and his successful management of complex legislative, budgetary and compliance initiatives establishes our Professional Services Practice as the best in the business. We are absolutely thrilled and honored to welcome him to our team."
Mason was a commissioner with the FEC for more than a decade, from 1998 to 2008. He served as chairman of the Commission in 2002, and again in 2008. He has also served as senior fellow and vice president of the Heritage Foundation and has held positions in the Department of Defense, and on staff for House and Senate offices on Capitol Hill.
"After many years of working with Aristotle as a member of the FEC, it is refreshing to have this opportunity to work with this dynamic team in a new and exciting position. I look forward to offering my experience in public policy, advocacy, election management and compliance, legislation and litigation to our clients at Aristotle," said Mason.
"Dave is one of the hardest working people I ever met," said Aristotle's attorney, Stephen Hershkowitz, partner of the leading election law firm Sandler, Reiff and Young. Hershkowitz worked along side Mason at the Federal Election Commission where he was the assistant general counsel. "In my experience, Dave's decisions in enforcement cases were based on a thorough examination of the applicable law and the facts, regardless of the identity of the respondent."
The Federal Election Commission recently clarified the appropriate use of Commission data as it relates to fund-raising and Aristotle and its patent-pending 360 technology were deemed to be in compliance under this clarification by the FEC. This recent legal victory, the 360 patent application filing, and the hiring of Mr. Mason position Aristotle as the industry leader in valuable data-mining technology and know how.
"Aristotle goes to great lengths to design its products to be 100 percent legal, and we are the only company that unconditionally guarantees compliance with FEC and state disclosure laws," Phillips added. "Aristotle clients now have a significant data-mining technology advantage combined with a powerful knowledge resource, and we look forward to putting this dynamic combination to work for political organizations across the country and around the globe," said Phillips.
