Arkados Group to Participate in SmartAmerica Challenge
Part of the "Smart Home/Business Gateway Platform" Project Team Looking to Showcase Initiative
NEWARK, N.J., June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Arkados Group, Inc. (OTCQB: AKDS) ("Arkados" or the "Company"), a rising software and hardware design company focused on developing solutions that enable machine to machine communications for the Internet of Things ("IoT"), today announced that it has teamed up with Tatung Co., STMicroelectronics NV, Grid2Home, Inc., and ProSyst Software GmbH to showcase their "Smart Home/Business Gateway Platform" project (the "Gateway Platform Project") at the SmartAmerica Summit on June 11, 2014 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. (http://smartamerica.org/). This summit is an initiative of the Presidential Innovation Fellows to challenge Industry, Academia and the Government to show how Cyber-Physical Systems (the Internet of Things) can create jobs, new business opportunities and socio-economic benefits to America.
Terrence DeFranco, Chief Executive Officer of Arkados Group, Inc., commented, "We are proud to be part of the Gateway Platform Project team to compete in the SmartAmerica Challenge at this year's SmartAmerica Summit. The event comes at an inflection point for Arkados as we expand our business from software design and OEM product solutions to delivering smart energy solutions and services for end customers. This is a natural expansion for us following the successful launch of our proprietary LinqUSP and PEMS software platforms, their implementation into the Gateway One and UDK-21 gateway solutions jointly developed by Tatung and STMicroelectronics, and the latest launch of Arkados Energy Solutions subsidiary. We look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate how the Gateway Platform Project, featuring cutting-edge proprietary products and solutions developed by Arkados and our project partners, enables quick and economic extension of Cyber-Physical System ("CSP") applications in homes and businesses at this exciting venue hosted by the White House Presidential Innovation Fellows."
In connection with this initiative, Arkados Energy Solutions has executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that includes Atlantic Health Systems, comprised of Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center, Chilton Medical Center, Newton Medical Center and Goryeb Children's Hospital, one of the largest non-profit health care systems in New Jersey. This MOU outlines the framework of discussions between the parties for potentially implementing the Smart Home/Business Gateway Platform in the various facilities of Atlantic Health Systems.
