NEWARK, N.J., Oct. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Arkados Group, Inc. (OTCQB: AKDS) (the "Company" or "Arkados"), a leading software developer and system integrator enabling Internet of Things ("IoT") applications, today announced that the Company was among the 20 companies who participated in this year's Startup Showcase at the Internet of Things World Forum (the "IoTWF"), which took place October 14-16 in Chicago, Illinois.
Hosted by Cisco Systems, Inc., the IoTWF is an annual event that brings together the thought leaders, practitioners, and innovators from business, government, and academia to accelerate the development of the rapidly emerging Internet of Things market. Following last year's inaugural event in Barcelona which featured 16 sponsors, more than 100 speakers, and approximately 800 delegates, this year's IoTWF attracted a crowd of over 1,500 from around the world.
Terrence DeFranco, CEO of Arkados, presented the Company's latest IoT software building blocks, featuring its software development and system integration services for the STMicroelectronics' STreamPlug ST2100 Broadband Powerline Communication (BB PLC) system on a chip (SoC). Additionally, Mr. DeFranco demonstrated Arkados' value-added service through the integration of the Java/OSGi framework into multiple IoT-related applications and the inclusion of the Company's LinqUSP device management middleware. Finally, the Arkados Process and Event Management System was discussed as a unique and valuable offering for Smart Factory and Smart Building applications.
Additionally, Arkados showcased how these innovative software solutions enable industry-leading IoT applications. Arkados' solutions can run on both Linux and Java environments to support developers' requirements of performance, reliability, and flexibility at the device level. In collaboration with Tatung Company and ST, Arkados' software solutions are integrated with Tatung's M-series of modules, GatewayOne and UDK-21. These applications enable data collection/monitoring, intelligent control, automation, and smart energy applications on ready-to-deploy service gateways preloaded with Linux and Java software packages for WiFi, Ethernet, and Broadband PLC connectivity designed to meet both commercial and consumer demands. UDK-21, best described as an IoT universal development tool, is developed with a pre-integrated software development tool-chain with application templates. Developers in all domain applications can benefit from the ready-to-go software support and quickly prove their concept or finish their prototypes. The applications developed by the developers can drop in the M-Series modules and GatewayOne for rapid deployment, cutting the development cycle-time and reducing risks.
Mr. DeFranco commented, "We are proud to be one of the 24 companies chosen by the Steering Committee of IoTWF to participate in this year's Startup Showcase." DeFranco continued by stating, "We believe this premier event provides us with a unique venue to showcase our latest progress in the IoT market as a result of the extensive collaboration and cooperation between Arkados and ST in recent years and are excited about our accomplishments. We came away from the IoTWF with a greater understanding of the many opportunities on which we can execute in the near and long terms and look forward to capitalizing on these opportunities immediately."
