Based in Austin, Texas, Mr. Sax's practice focuses on forensic engineering and litigation support in cases involving vehicular collisions. He also consults on transportation safety and traffic operations issues. His areas of expertise include vehicle collision reconstruction, highway work zone traffic control safety, roadway design, traffic signal operations, and traffic control devices. He holds an M.S. and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University with a concentration in transportation engineering.
"Christian Sax's prior experience and research in transportation design and operations provide a solid platform for consulting in the field of vehicular collision forensics, and we are pleased to welcome him to the Armstrong family," said Jeffrey D. Armstrong, P.E., Chairman and Founder of Armstrong.
Mr. Sax's published papers and presentations have focused on urban road design and the optimal balance between the costs of purchasing additional right-of-way for clear zones and the risk of fixed-object crashes. In one study for the state of Iowa, Mr. Sax concluded that a four- to five-foot clear zone could be effective in reducing 90% of urban fixed-object crashes.
"My interest in civil and transportation engineering began in high school as I watched the construction of the Hiawatha commuter rail line, which now links downtown Minneapolis, the airport, and the Mall of America. I was drawn to the challenge of finding solutions to urban congestion and people movement, and I'm eager to apply this knowledge to the study of accident reconstruction at Armstrong," said Mr. Sax.
