ARPEC Announces Openings in Mechanical Trades Training Program
South Florida training center provides local residents with an opportunity to learn and establish a career in a skilled trade
MIAMI, April 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Pipefitting Education Center ("ARPEC" and "training center") announces the upcoming April 25 deadline for openings in the school's prestigious training program for the fall term.
ARPEC -- which is jointly administered by the Mechanical Contractors Association of South Florida ("MCASF") and United Association Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Pipefitters Local Union No. 725 of Miami, Florida, A.F.L.-C.I.O. ("Local Union 725") -- trains apprentices for lucrative careers in the high-tech, high-demand field of air conditioning service, maintenance and installation, as well as pipefitting on the construction side of the industry. Contractors members of MCASF pay all of the tuition costs for training provided by ARPEC for applicants who are accepted into the school's demanding five year program.
ARPEC offers hands-on training provided by highly-skilled certified instructors who, as members of Local Union 725, are experts in their field. Comprehensive classroom studies are complemented hands-on experience working for MCASF Contractors, who employ more than 600 skilled tradespeople in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
ARPEC graduates receive an impressive compensation package that exceeds what many college graduates earn, totaling more than $90,000 per year. This includes excellent health insurance and a pension program.

Admissions requirements:
Applicants:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must furnish a valid Florida driver's license.
- Must furnish a birth certificate.
- Must be able to adequately perform the work of the trade.
- Must submit a high school transcript or official GED report.
- Must score a high or medium grade on the USES test battery for the trade.
- Must take two state-recognized math evaluation tests. Practice exams are available upon request.
- A $60 non-refundable application fee is required.
