SUWANEE, Ga., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ARRIS (Nasdaq: ARRS) today announced that Ming Wu has been named Vice President, Business Development for the Chinese marketplace.

Mr. Wu brings over 15 years of senior leadership experience to his new role.  He joins ARRIS from China Cable Networks (CCN), the only state-owned cross-region cable TV operator in China, where he served as COO and VP, Research and Development.  At CCN, Mr. Wu had overall responsibility for company profit and loss, product development and the creation of a centralized operational management system.  Previously, Mr. Wu spent several years at Dell Computers as their Greater China Director, and at Nortel Networks, where he was Research & Development Director for their wire-line product solutions.  He started his career in telecommunications at MCI Corp, where he was a Global Network Senior Manager of Engineering.  He received an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester and a Master's in Business & Administration from the University of Chicago.

In his role as VP, Business Development for ARRIS in China, Mr. Wu will represent the Company as it identifies new business opportunities and works with Government Ministries and with Cable System Operators to help them deploy triple play services for the country's cable customers.  He reports to Stan Brovont, ARRIS SVP Business Development and Marketing, and will work out of the ARRIS offices in Beijing and Shenzhen.
