Art Basel's bucket list of activities takes place all over Miami Beach

17 Nov, 2015, 11:15 ET from Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority

MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- It's the most anticipated art event in North America and Miami Beach has hosted it for 14 years. Art Basel arrives on Miami Beach in December, officially opening on December 3rd and running through December 6th.  And while the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) will be home to the main event, dozens of satellite fairs as well as individual events will entertain the over 100,000 visitors who descend on the city over Art week. It is a testament to Miami Beach's popularity and growing sophistication that whether its South, Mid or North Beach, a jam-packed array of exhibits, openings, and happenings will be available as everyone celebrates Art Basel in the Americas.

"When the Art Basel committee decided to make a home in the Americas, it was no surprise they chose Miami Beach as their permanent location," notes Peggy Benua, Chair, the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA) "This city has the space, means and venues to host a wealth and range of events and as the number of activities and exhibits spread across the city during Basel, we're seeing what we've known all along: that Miami Beach is not only the perfect location for the depth and breadth of events like Art Basel but our residents and visitors are open-minded,  erudite and cultured and they come out in droves to support the arts."

Last year Art Basel hosted 267 galleries and attracted around 70,000 visitors at the MBCC. This year, although the city expects those numbers to remain steady, increasingly the convention center is not the only show in town. In 2015, for instance, visitors and residents will be able to enjoy a wide range of art offerings and a plethora of lodging options in South, Mid and North Beach.

"Art Basel is a great time for visitors to really discover Miami Beach," says Grisette Roque, Executive Director, MBVCA. "While the main fair takes place in South Beach, Mid and North Beach are bursting with fabulous bucket list worthy events and activities that tick every box."

Art Basel is almost here. Let the fun begin with a comprehensive guide about what to do and where to stay in South, Mid and North Beach.
