The Midwest's No. 1 furniture and mattress retailer announced today it has signed an agreement with Thomas and Tamara Lynch of Owosso, co-owners of Schneider's Appliance in Shiawassee County, to open a new franchise store.

The new Art Van Furniture/Schneider's Appliance store (1826 E. Main Street) will add on 10,000 square feet to create an expanded 24,000 square foot showroom dedicated to furniture and appliances. The venture will add approximately 15 new jobs in the close knit community. The Lynch's purchased Schneider's Appliance 16 years ago from lifetime resident, Don Ehrke. The store, which has been a staple in Owosso for 60 years, will remain open during construction. An August grand opening celebration is planned.
