Artkick Launches Kickstarter Campaign For The Digital Photo Frame, Reimagined
Wi-Fi connected frame links family, friends, and interests by displaying images from social and photo sharing sites, library of 70 million Getty Images, and art curated from 4,000 museums
SAN FRANCISCO, June 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Artkick today launched the LOOK™, an Internet-connected high definition display that redefines the digital photo frame, via a 30-day Kickstarter campaign. The LOOK builds on and improves the once-cumbersome digital photo frame with an easy-to-use, pixilation-free, large HD screen. The LOOK connects friends, family and interests by automatically displaying pictures from multiple sources, including photo sharing sites and social networks, all controlled through a set-it-and-forget-it simple app.
Artkick has also worked with Getty Images to provide access to more than 70 million professional photographs, including some of the most recognizable imagery of the 20th century and up-to-the minute pictures of worldwide sporting, entertainment and news events. In addition, LOOK subscribers have access to the largest photo and art collection ever assembled for one device, with curated masterpieces from more than 4,000 museums, including The Louvre and Metropolitan Museum of Art.
"Posting pictures onto digital photo frames was too difficult and time-consuming," says Sheldon Laube, chief executive officer at Artkick. "We focused on making the LOOK screen bigger and better. Users just take pictures and post them to social media sites and they magically appear on LOOK."
Controlled from the LOOK Connect app for iOS or Android, the LOOK automatically pulls photos from followed social media channels and photo sharing sites, providing a never-ending stream of photos to friends, family and fans. When new pictures are posted to popular networks like Facebook, Instagram, Flickr and Pinterest, they instantly appear on LOOK, as long as the user's permission settings allow sharing. For example, LOOK users could show photos from a vacation during the day, a Monet painting during dinner, and then Getty Images photos from yesterday's ball game at night.
Featuring a brilliant 1080p, HD Wi-Fi connected display and an elegant black frame, LOOK measures 27 inches by 18 inches, weighs 12 pounds, efficiently runs on fewer than 50 watts of power, and mounts horizontally or vertically on a wall, or stands on a tabletop. It can be set to rotate photos and to power off and on at specific times.
The first 150 Kickstarter backers will receive a LOOK for the special price of $349. Additional backers will receive special Kickstarter pricing of $399. After the campaign, LOOK will retail for $499. As soon as Artkick secures $50,000 backing on Kickstarter, they will go to production (estimated delivery time is October 2015). The cost of a LOOK includes a free, six month subscription that enables access to the web, Getty Images and museum art. The LOOK may be used with no subscription fee to display the museum art only.
