MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) has recognized Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics (AANMA) and its Anaphylaxis Community Expert (ACE) program with the Power of A Gold Award – the second-highest industry award honoring association activities and initiatives essential to a stronger America and world.
The Power of A Awards recognize outstanding accomplishments of associations to enrich lives, create a competitive workforce, prepare society for the future, drive innovation and make a better world.
"We are honored to receive this award," said Nancy Sander, president and founder of AANMA, a leading nonprofit patient education organization, "but the credit really belongs to the ACE faculty of prominent physicians and nurses who helped us put the training program together and to the volunteer physicians, nurses and community workers across the country who go into their local schools, hospitals and town halls to promote awareness about anaphylaxis. This life-threatening condition kills at least two people each day, sends thousands to the emergency room and causes untold anxiety, especially among parents and caregivers of children. Since the program began in 2010, ACE volunteers have reached more than 17,000 people with their life-saving message of education and preparedness."
"AANMA's ACE program is a perfect example of how associations continue to make innovative, meaningful contributions to their communities and society in times of need," said Christie Tarantino, CAE, chair of the Power of A Awards Judging Committee and president and CEO of Association Forum of Chicagoland. "Through the dedication of association professionals and association members across the country and around the world, organizations like AANMA make a tangible difference in the lives of others."
