Ascendiant Client, Cheticamp Fisheries, Acquired by Champlain Financial Corporation

IRVINE, Calif., May 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ascendiant Capital Markets, LLC (www.ascendiant.com) announced today the acquisition of its client, Cheticamp Fisheries International Ltd. of Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, Canada ("Cheticamp"), by Champlain Financial Corporation, headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada ("Champlain").  Cheticamp is a leading branded seafood processor and wholesale distributor, supplying the finest quality snow crab and lobster to customers in the United States, Canada, and Asia.  Champlain, a Canadian private holding company, has been building a diversified private investment portfolio with a series of investments throughout Canada and the United States.  Champlain's core focus is to serve as a value-added partner in providing equity capital and growth management expertise to small and middle-market companies.

Ascendiant Managing Directors, Avi Suriel and Gary Gooderum, led the transaction on behalf of Ascendiant and its client.  Messrs. Suriel and Gooderum have a combined thirty years of experience in corporate finance and M&A, including Mr. Suriel's tenure with leading Wall Street firms while in New York.
