Associated Builders and Contractors Northern California Chapter Announces Executive Leadership Changes
LIVERMORE, Calif., March 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Associated Builders and Contractors, Northern California Chapter (ABC NorCal) announced today that Toby Cummings, who has served as president and chief staff officer of the trade association since 2008, has resigned to pursue a new career opportunity. Anne Quick, former vice president of educational outreach, has been named interim president and CSO while the board of directors considers a permanent replacement.
ABC NorCal Board of Directors Chairperson, Dina Kimble noted, "Toby Cummings has tirelessly dedicated himself to this organization and upholding the merit shop philosophy. As a result of his leadership, ABC NorCal is poised to seize the exciting opportunities for our members as the construction industry recovers and thrives. We are grateful to Toby for his commitment and dedication to free enterprise and wish him all the best with his future endeavors."
Under Cumming's leadership, ABC NorCal has weathered the economic downturn and emerged with financial stability including healthy reserves and a steadily growing membership. He was integral in the transition of the organization's training programs to one centralized location, with a 26,000 square foot, state-of-the-art training facility for ABC NorCal's five state and federally approved apprenticeship training programs. The construction trade association currently represents 500+ companies of varying size across Northern California (from Fresno to the Oregon border) and trains 275-300 apprentices a year.
"Working with ABC NorCal and representing our members across Northern California for the past seven years has been deeply rewarding," Cummings said. "We are currently in a great position to help our industry meet its needs for a skilled workforce. We have a strong management team and a dedicated board of directors in place to carry our strategic plan forward. I feel confident that I am leaving at a time when ABC NorCal has a healthy foundation and is poised for growth."
Quick has been with ABC NorCal for more than 30 years and has been a critical part of ABC NorCal's management team. She is credited with forming five state and federally approved merit shop apprenticeship programs for ABC NorCal, spearheading the chapter's accreditation with the National Center for Construction Education (NCCER), serving as a Commissioner to the California Apprenticeship Council (CAC) and being the first woman inducted into the CAC Hall of Fame.
