ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, American Trucking Associations announced its full roster of speakers and special guests for the 2014 ATA Management Conference & Exhibition, Oct. 4-7 in San Diego, Calif.
"The program we've assembled for this year's MC&E is one of the strongest we've ever had," said ATA President and CEO Bill Graves. "We'll be tackling important issues like safety, the economy, driver recruiting and retention, congestion and the upcoming midterm elections. It promises to be an important and informational meeting."
Among the highlights of this year's event are:
- Advocacy and Government Affairs Luncheon Keynote speaker Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) on the reauthorization of the highway bill, long-term solutions to the Highway Trust Fund, the new Hours of Service Restart rule, and other important issues for the trucking industry;
- Pollster Neil Newhouse of Public Opinion Strategies on the current political trends and the perception of the trucking industry;
- Top economists studying the energy, manufacturing and retail sectors – along with ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello will provide an economic update;
- And finally, a panel of industry experts will look at the impact of congestion and deteriorating infrastructure on trucking.
In addition, MC&E will feature eight educational sessions for fleet executives on topics ranging from driver recruiting and retention to fuel efficiency and future trucking technologies.
Also, for the first time, ATA is hosting a series of "Talk with the Expert" forums at the ATA Pavilion in the Exhibit Hall. These intimate, informal discussions will allow attendees to meet and discuss important issues with many of ATA's subject matter experts.
"MC&E has always been a tremendous learning opportunity for our members, and I believe that this year's event will only build on that tradition," Graves said.
