Atlantic Shores' Liz Dammeyer selected as 2014 Assisted Living Administrator of the Year
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Liz Dammeyer, Assisted Living Administrator for Harbourway at Atlantic Shores in Virginia Beach, Virginia, has been selected as VCAL Assisted Living Administrator of the Year, by the Virginia Health Care Association (VHCA)/Virginia Center for Assisted Living (VCAL).
This honor recognizes an individual with outstanding leadership ability, who has contributed significantly to the profession of long term care administration.
Ms. Dammeyer was chosen as Virginia's top Assisted Living Administrator by a panel of judges who reviewed this year's nominees from around the state.
Liz directs all day-to-day operations Harbourway, the state-of-the-art assisted living facility located at Atlantic Shores Retirement Community - - a resident-governed, 100-acre cooperative association in Virginia Beach – the only of its kind in the state. A member of the Atlantic Shores team since 2001, she opened the community's first assisted living facility and, in 2007, helped design and launch Harbourway -- a newly constructed facility featuring 53 apartments and a 14-unit memory care unit.
Ms. Dammeyer was selected her experience, ideas, hard work and open heart, which have made Harbourway excel in providing a home-like environment with resident-centered care unlike any other facility.
She was also selected for her exceptional talent to draw together both her team and her residents – giving everyone a unique voice in how Harbourway grows and develops. Her leadership, policies and personality have created a positive workplace that naturally creates a comfortable and family-like living experience for residents.
Her strategic planning initiatives exceed the standards of assisted living, earning a coveted extended facility license, and positioning Atlantic Shores on the forefront of the industry.
She was also saluted for work among her peers, including developing a trend-setting industry quality assurance program used in facilities throughout Virginia to increase compliance, creating medication management training materials, and co-championing the groundbreaking INTERACT program to reduce re-hospitalizations.
