AT&T And The Nature Conservancy Team Up To Help Idaho Customers Skip The Bag
AT&T to donate 10 cents for every checkout bag its customers forego
BOISE, Idaho, Aug. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to empower AT&T customers with sustainable choices, increase efficiency and minimize impact on the environment, AT&T is teaming up with The Nature Conservancy to encourage AT&T customers to skip the bag when purchasing items from its retail stores in Idaho. With this program, which runs from August 9 to January 31, AT&T will donate 10 cents to The Nature Conservancy for each check out bag its customers choose to forego.
"As we work to make our own operations at AT&T more sustainable, we also want to empower our customers to live more sustainably," said Jenifer Robertson, Vice President and General Manager, AT&T-Rocky Mountain Region. "The skip the bag initiative joins our other environmentally focused retail efforts, like our eco-devices and device recycling programs, that help AT&T and our customers to minimize our impact on the environment, today and well into the future."
AT&T's Skip the Bag campaign is in support of The Nature Conservancy's efforts to protect and restore the lands and waters on which all life depends. The Nature Conservancy takes innovative action to invest in the planet's environmental and economic future in areas such as Idaho's McArthur Lake region.
"The Nature Conservancy is dedicated to finding ways for nature and people to thrive and to protecting the great places to live, work and play that make Idaho so special," said Toni Hardesty, state director of The Nature Conservancy in Idaho. "We are excited to be part of AT&T's efforts to provide its customers with sustainable choices."
The Nature Conservancy has protected nearly 120 million acres around the world over 60 years. In Idaho the Conservancy has worked with communities and landowners since 1976, when it purchased and restored Silver Creek Preserve. Since then, the Conservancy has helped to conserve more than 400,000 acres of iconic landscapes and habitat in Idaho
Throughout the duration of this campaign, customers will also have the opportunity to donate additional funds to The Nature Conservancy at Idaho AT&T stores. To learn more about AT&T's sustainability efforts, please visit www.att.com/sustainability.

McArthur Lake - Idaho
The McArthur Lake Wildlife Corridor stitches together over a million acres of public lands. The corridor provides important habitat and connectivity for eight federally listed species and over 24 species designated as Idaho's Species of Greatest Conservation Need.
But in this same area, migratory wildlife and passing vehicles too often come into contact, resulting in more collisions than any other state highway in Idaho. With community support, we can save human life and the unique wildlife that frequent this area. By pro-actively installing and maintaining signage and animal detection systems, we can improve safety and reduce collisions in a valued Idaho destination. Support this project and help animals like moose safely cross the road.
