AT&T Supports the Jimmy Fund With a $20,000 Contribution

BOSTON, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As a sponsor of this year's WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, AT&T* is pleased to announce that text pledges were six times larger than expected this year. AT&T matched text pledges for a three-hour window during the fundraiser last week.  During this match period, thousands of texts were received and as a result, AT&T will provide the Jimmy Fund with $20,000 to support adult and pediatric cancer research and treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The two-day event raised more than $3 million overall.

"Giving by text is still a relatively new concept, but we're pleased to say that Bostonians generously texted their support for the Jimmy Fund this year," said Steve Krom, vice president and general manager for AT&T. "We are incredibly proud to provide our support to such an excellent organization."

WEEI/NESN Radio-Telethon listeners were asked to text KCANCER to 20222** to send a $10 gift to the Jimmy Fund.  The text program is still open and available for those who wish to contribute.
