Attorneys for Homeowners Release Statement Regarding Chinese Drywall Litigation Progress
NEW ORLEANS, March 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Since 2006, Chinese entities have done billions of dollars worth of business in the U.S., but until now, they had not accepted the final decisions of U.S. Courts, which hold manufacturers of defective products liable. The Chinese Drywall entities Taishan and its controllers have been found in criminal and civil contempt of court. In a court order filed Wednesday, March 18, the honorable Judge Eldon E. Fallon ordered Taishan to "purge itself of contempt" by paying a series of fees, penalties and fines.
On behalf of the more than 4,000 homeowners nationwide, who are plaintiffs in the ongoing litigation against Chinese drywall manufacturer and Defendant Taishan, liaison and lead counsel attorneys Russ Herman and Arnold Levin have expressed their intentions to pursue the Chinese entities vigorously now that they have retained counsel in the United States. The following is their joint statement on behalf of the plaintiffs:
"These US citizens have suffered enough. They have witnessed home foreclosures and bankruptcies while the Defendants have used every tactic to avoid their moral and legal responsibilities. We intend for the defendants to either pay all property claims, which are estimated in excess of $1.5 billion, or we shall pursue every lawful avenue to shut down their business enterprises in the U.S."
