Audiobooks.com Celebrated Audiobook Month with 20,000 Audiobook Giveaways at $400,000 Value
Included Premium Titles from Maggie Stiefvater, Tessa Hadley, Audrey Carlan and Bethany Hamilton
TORONTO, July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Audiobooks.com, a leader in the audiobook service space, today announced the final results of a month long promotion for Audiobook Month.
In a cooperative effort to promote audiobooks, Audiobooks.com and their publishing partners, Brilliance Audio, Oasis Audio, Scholastic Inc. and Dreamscape Media LLC, offered a variety of audiobooks for free download during select periods throughout June. The giveaway of 20,000 audiobooks ultimately totaled 140,000 hours of content – the equivalent to 16 years' worth of listening time – valued at $400,000. Nearly 60% of downloads were by non-Audiobooks.com-members, who were potentially listening to an audiobook for the very first time.
"It's exciting to know that we reached people who may have never listened to an audiobook before, by creating this low-barrier experience. We're committed to growing the market, and we are appreciative of our partners who shared in that vision with us," says Ian Small, Audiobooks.com CEO.
The audiobooks offered for free download were:
- The Past by Tessa Hadley
- Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo
- Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton
- Thunder Dog by Michael Hingson
- January by Audrey Carlan
- The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen
- The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
The giveaway was in addition to 130,000 downloads in June of titles that are always free for public enjoyment via the Audiobooks.com apps.
Audiobook Month is celebrated from June 1 – 30 annually by the audiobook publishing industry, with the goal of increasing awareness of and engagement with this growing format.
