AudioNow Announces New Mobile Remittance Platform For Mobile Diaspora Communities with Viamericas
First-ever payment module in media apps aimed at lowering consumer fees while benefiting broadcasters and their audiences
BETHESDA, Md. and WASHINGTON, May 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Viamericas Corporation, an international licensed remittance company, announced a partnership with AudioNow Plus, the technology affiliate of the world's largest mobile distribution platform that connects in-language broadcasters with their audiences in the diaspora. The partnership will allow broadcaster's listeners to send money from mobile devices in the U.S. to friends and family in South America and the Caribbean, with more regions to follow, directly on AudioNow Plus apps and broadcaster websites. AudioNow is the largest platform connecting 4000+ in-language broadcasters to mobile phones globally.
For the first time, this partnership will give in-language audiences of audio and video apps a secure and low cost way to send money home through their IOS or Android device within the app without having to go elsewhere. Lowering customer acquisition costs is expected to contribute to increased funds reaching their destinations.
"We want to make it easier for anyone to send money home to friends and family," says Paul Dwyer, CEO of Viamericas. "We understand that sending money needs to be both convenient and secure, and this partnership gives us an opportunity to step into a new digital platform that will be easy for diaspora media consumers to use, saving them time and money."
According to the Wall Street Journal, $62.4 billion was remitted last year to Latin America and the Caribbean, mostly from the U.S. Simultaneously, there has been an increase in migrants sending money over the Internet, using computers and mobile devices.
AudioNow broadcast partners who have entered the remittance program include the largest broadcasters in Haiti, Radio Television Caraibes; Radio Kiskeya; Radio Vision 2000; as well as Spanish-language broadcasters, Radio America 1540 AM, Radio Guadelupe, and Grupo Promo Media in Mexico.
"Now is the perfect time to deliver new offerings that benefit our broadcaster partners and their listeners as mobile users increasingly rely on a smaller number of service providers especially those supported by their trusted local broadcaster," says Alexandra Moe, Vice President of Strategy of AudioNow Plus. "Media consumers all over the world rely on remittances sent from family and friends in the US, and we want to make it easier for them while providing new revenue streams for our broadcasters. This new feature is the first of many services that strengthen community goodwill between the broadcaster and their audience."
