Author Depicts Alzheimer's Presidency in New Thought-Provoking Series
Former political consultant Dale Napier envisions political scheming over patriotism when the president loses control
LAS VEGAS, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- If the President of the United States had Alzheimer's, who would notice? Who would act on it? Would they use the information for their own benefit, or for the good of the country? These questions were asked only fleetingly after the Reagan Administration ended, but they are asked and answered in depth in the new novel White House Storm by Las Vegas author Dale Napier.

White House Storm is the story of a rogue general's attempt at a military coup after his secret discovery that the president has Alzheimer's. General "Stormy" Thornton has allies inside the Cyber Command who give him control of the Internet and all broadcast communications in the United States, including military intranets.
Vice President Joan Queenan is forced to use her own resources to track down and resolve the situation. The first of three novels about Joan Queenan's presidency, White House Storm carries a cyber war subplot far more deadly than the credit hacking stories we hear almost daily. When a single technician in a blast-hardened bunker can control drones and nuclear-capable destroyers around the world, who really decides war and peace?
Author Dale Napier, a former Houston political consultant to both sides of the aisle, holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Texas and took his graduate studies at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. He now lives in the Las Vegas area where he is finishing work on the sequel to White House Storm, Queen Joan.
"There's been a lot of talk over the years about the likelihood that President Reagan suffered from Alzheimer's near the end of his second term," Napier says. "Based on inside sources I have, I tend to believe it. But what are the practical implications of such a condition on a day to day operational basis? Who tries to take advantage? Who acts nobly, if anyone? With no one really in charge, what foreign policy problems can turn critical overnight? That's what White House Storm addresses." He adds that, "We get as many clues from the handling of Woodrow Wilson's stroke as we do from Reagan's presidency."
