LOS ANGELES, April 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For the fourth consecutive year, BakeSpace.com's Cookbook Cafe App and eBook Publishing Platform has been selected as a Webby Award Honoree.
The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) announced yesterday that Cookbook Cafe was honored in the "Best App: Lifestyle" category alongside apps from major publishers including Conde Nast / Bon Appetit and Financial Times.
Cookbook Cafe is the first do-it-yourself platform that enables anyone (home chef, brand, nonprofit organization, etc.) to create, market and distribute a cookbook as an iPad app and web-based eBook.
In addition to multiple Webby Award honors, Cookbook Cafe has been recognized by the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) for "Outstanding Use of New Technology," and earned a 2014 Appy Award for "Best iPad Publishing App."
IADAS also announced yesterday that the BakeSpace.com online food community and recipe swap has earned Webby recognition for the ninth consecutive year, this time in the "Best Website: Community" category. BakeSpace.com and Cookbook Cafe have earned a total of 17 Webby Award honors and nominations, including back-to-back nominations for "Best Social Network."
"Earning a total of 17 Webby honors and nominations serves to validate our efforts to democratize cookbook publishing and build the web's most delicious food community and recipe swap," said BakeSpace Founder Babette Pepaj. "Our goal is to empower everyone – from home cooks and nonprofit organizations to brands – with the tools they need to share their culinary passion with the world."
Hailed by The New York Times as the "Internet's highest honor," the Webby is the leading international award for excellence in websites, interactive advertising, online film/video and mobile apps. This year's 19th Annual Webby Awards competition included more than 13,000 entries from across the globe.
About Cookbook Cafe
Cookbook Cafe is the first DIY publishing platform that enables anyone to create, market and sell a cookbook as both an iPad app and a web-based eBook.
There is no cost to publish a cookbook, download the Cookbook Cafe App or use the cookbook storefront and reader. Authors build their cookbook apps and eBooks without the need for a designer or app developer. The cookbook storefront is supported by the expansive BakeSpace.com community of home cooks. The cookbook reader uses proprietary indexing technology that lets users search recipes within all published cookbooks individually by type, ingredient, author and keyword with one simple click. This helps ensure that even niche cookbooks by unknown authors have a chance of being discovered. Such indexing also makes it easy for users to find specific recipes across multiple cookbooks once they have been downloaded. A group publishing feature enables authors to collaborate and crowdsource recipes easily. This feature is especially popular among groups, brands and nonprofit organizations that want to engage fans.
