PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The regatta which started March 30, 1930 will once again start in downtown St. Petersburg, FL on February 28, 2017 and, after 284 nautical miles of competitive sailing, finish at the Hemingway Marina in Havana Cuba. The race has been certified by the Cuban government as a sporting event featuring a field of 70 to 100 sail boats in four classes from around the USA. The race began in the late 1920's but was last run in 1959 due to the US embargo on Cuba.
