LONDON, September 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
The relief effort for Barbuda has seen huge generosity from around the globe and event highlighted some new directions for charitable donations not seen before via the Calvin Ayre Foundation.
Barbuda was directly in Irma's path, and its Category 5 mix of 300km/hour winds and heavy rain left a trail of devastation in its wake. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, said 90% of the island's structures have been destroyed.
For the first time donations can also be made, either in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash or traditionally will also be matched by Calvin Ayre, a long-term resident and Antiguan citizen, up to $1,000,000. The Bitcoin community has already dug deep for Barbuda but it is hoped opening up direct donations in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash will help increase that generosity.
