Barclaycard US Expands Leadership Team With New Chief Financial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer Gerald Pavelich joins Barclaycard US as CFO, Peggy Maher to lead marketing efforts
WILMINGTON, Del., Sept. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Barclaycard US, the payments business of Barclays in the United States, today announced the appointment of Gerald (Jerry) Pavelich as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Peggy Maher as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Mr. Pavelich will report to Barclaycard US Chief Executive Amer Sajed and Barclaycard Chief Financial Officer Philip McHugh and joins the global Barclaycard CFO Operating Committee and the Barclaycard US Executive Committee. Ms. Maher will report to Mr. Sajed and Barclaycard's global CMO, Nina Bibby, in London. She also joins the US Executive Committee and Barclaycard Global Marketing Leadership Team.
Mr. Pavelich's professional background encompasses a broad range of credit card lending, insurance, banking and leasing experience. Prior to joining Barclaycard US, he served as CFO with CUNA Mutual Group and was responsible for rebuilding the company's capital to record levels through aggressive capital management and discipline. Before CUNA, he spent eight years with Citigroup – most recently as CFO for Citibank North America. Before joining Citibank, Mr. Pavelich spent 21 years at GE Capital where he held several executive-level finance positions.
As CFO, Mr. Pavelich will be responsible for assisting Barclaycard US in achieving its growth objectives by partnering with and advising the company's chief executive and business leadership on all areas of financial management. His responsibilities include business and financial planning, investment/expense optimization, corporate development, financial reporting, business operations risk and accounting.
Ms. Maher joins Barclaycard US after 25 years with American Express. During her tenure there, she held different roles of increasing responsibility in customer lifecycle management, product development, loyalty offerings, acquisition and customer engagement, strategy, online experience and product line general management. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President - International Marketing Capabilities & Customer Advocacy, where she was responsible for consumer and business card marketing capabilities in 22 international markets. In this role, she led the delivery of digital acquisitions, customer relationship development, customer advocacy insights and programs, and business analytics. Prior to American Express, Ms. Maher worked at CBS in New York, and Professional Computer Resources in Larkspur, California.
As CMO, Ms. Maher will oversee the company's marketing and communications functions in the U.S., including brand management, customer communications, digital marketing, marketing analytics, marketing compliance, corporate communications, new product development, customer loyalty, and consumer insights.
